Victoria Police adopts best-in-class legal research technologies to improve prosecution outcomes

Victoria Police is set to transform the way its personnel carry out their duties and improve the State's prosecution outcomes thanks to a major new partnership with leading information and solutions provider, Thomson Reuters.
SYDNEY 8 September 2014 Victoria Police has adopted a new leading-edge set of digital research tools - delivered via tablet and desktop computer - to help its prosecuting officers better conduct legal research and determine strategies for effective presentation of cases.
Thomson Reuters' Westlaw AU and ProView services are already heavily relied on by the country's top law firms and these tools will now be used by Victoria Police both in and out of court.
Noting the demands placed on prosecutors as a result of an increasingly complex case load, Thomson Reuters will provide a range of regular ‘Prosecutor Seminar Sessions’, highlighting new legal developments from expert Thomson Reuters authors and editors. The Hon Michael Kirby, Editor-In-Chief of The Laws of Australia will deliver the first of these presentations to Victoria Police prosecutors in early October. Seminars scheduled in 2014 also include sessions with Stephen Odgers SC, Dr Ian Freckelton QC and Kyle McDonald.
This new partnership with Thomson Reuters ensures that Victoria Police Prosecutors have the latest and most advanced legal research technologies in daily use, both in Court and in the field. Victoria Police Prosecutors are delighted to be using Westlaw and ProView – both from Thomson Reuters.
