Legal publisher expands footprint into small-medium law firm market with new strategic alliance

22 July 2013

Legal and Tax & Accounting information solutions provider, Thomson Reuters, has announced a new strategic alliance with the Law Society of NSW that will see it significantly expand its ability to service Australian small-medium law firms.

The move builds on the legal publisher’s acquisition of the Infinitylaw legal practice management system and document and workflow solutions provider, Softdocs.

As part of the new alliance, Thomson Reuters will publish the Law Society of NSW’s Precedent service.  The service is an up-to-date source of forms and precedents sold in 14 content suites in common areas of legal practice including family law, conveyancing, wills and estates and ASIC-related transactions. Thomson Reuters will engage with subscribers to scope enhancements to the service, including alternative delivery options and access to an extensive range of supporting content.

The second part of the alliance sees Thomson Reuters form a strategic channel partnership with the Law Society to become the exclusive legal information solutions partner for its newly launched Practice Connexions Member benefits programme. Law Society members will gain access to a wide range of exclusive discounts on Thomson Reuters books, eBooks, eSubs, Softdocs as well as Westlaw AU subscriptions.

Jackie Rhodes, CEO of the Thomson Reuters Legal, Tax & Accounting business in ANZ, said: “This alliance with the Law Society of NSW is an exciting move for us. Not only are we able to add significant value for existing Law Society Precedent subscribers, but by partnering with the Law Society’s new Practice Connexions programme, we are able to better service Law Society members with our products and services. Alliances such as this form part of our strategy to become the partner of choice among the small to medium law firm market, something we are taking great strides towards.”
